Blood RedBefore release
In a desolate landscape where time seems suspended, men, guns, and live and dead animals silently evoke the feeling of an ending that has already begun.
Blood Red is a black-and-white hybrid feature film composed of long, precisely choreographed shots, filmed entirely on an iPhone. It takes place in a desolate landscape inhabited by people focused solely on surviving from one day to the next. Elderly men try to reconnect with the archetype of the hunter, wandering with loaded rifles among living and dead animals and the pervasive silence. Without a conventional narrative or dialogue, the film explores the weight of stillness filled with the expectation of change, the nature of which remains uncertain. Spatial tension permeates every shot, every movement, and every foreshadowing of an ending. Blurring the boundaries between fiction and documentary, the film reflects on human fragility and the apocalyptic undertone of contemporary peripheries that have lost faith and contact with the civilizational promise of prosperity. A fiction debut by recent graduate Martin Imrich, one of the most distinctive new talents to emerge from FAMU in recent years.
